Volunteer for Sunday Service

We’d love to get you involved!

Sunday worship is at the heart of a church’s life. At IRECT, we express our faith in worship that glorifies God and equips us to live in service as His people in the world.

At IRECT, worship is not a performance; everyone is invited to participate actively. Our liturgy includes parts in which the congregation is invited to speak or sing.

We greet and welcome one another. We listen to the sermon, present our offerings, recite the Apostles’ Creed together, and offer intercessory prayers aloud.

Children also take part in worship. They join in praising the Lord and praying together in the sanctuary before proceeding together to the Sunday school classes prepared for them.

Sunday Service Teams

Church Music

The primary instrument used to accompany worship is the piano. Other instruments that also accompany the service include the guitar, flute, and cajón. The adult and children’s choirs rehearse once a week and offer songs of praise in their respective services at least once a month. For more information about the choirs, please contact our Pastor, or one of our Elders.

Audio-Visual

IRECT’s worship services are supported by an audio-visual system. We have a team that prepares the sound system, microphones, and other related needs. Every sermon is recorded and then posted on the website so that the congregation may listen to it again and so that it may become a blessing to more people. Announcements and related information, as well as the songs of praise we sing in worship, are printed in the church bulletin and also projected on the screen using an LCD projector.

Refreshments

After the worship service, the congregation is invited to enjoy simple refreshments prepared by volunteers. This gives the congregation further opportunity to get to know one another, exchange thoughts, and share blessings with each other.

The Sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism

Beginning in 2018, we observe the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper once a month. The sacrament of Baptism, whether infant baptism or adult baptism, as well as profession of faith and attestation of membership, is administered in accordance with the procedures in place at IRECT.

Serve with Children’s Ministry

Teaching the Word of God according to Reformed doctrine, so that the lives of children may be transformed for the glory of God, is the primary task of the Sunday School program. To do this effectively, Sunday School is divided into several classes, from Nursery through Grades 9–10. The curriculum we use from Kindergarten through Grade 7 is Show Me Jesus, published by Great Commission Publications. For students in Grades 9–10, we use a curriculum designed specifically for high school students, including HC and Me: The Heidelberg Catechism for Christian Living. During the summer, Sunday School is sometimes held outside the church building, such as in a park.

Nursery is an important part of IRECT. In the Nursery room, children ages 1–3 can learn while they play. Leaders share Bible stories and guide the children in age-appropriate activities. One of the resources used for storytelling is the God Loves Me series by Patricia L. Nederveld.
